Ecosystem For Faculties

The Industrial Research & Consultancy Centre

The Industrial Research and Consultancy Centre (IRCC) at IIT Bombay is led by the Dean R&D. It is the nodal unit responsible for managing research and development at the Institute, including processes for financial, manpower and intellectual property management, technology licensing activities, and various schemes for incentivizing and supporting faculty, students and staff involved in research.

The Alumni And Corporate Relation

The key objective of the Alumni & Corporate Relations (ACR) office, headed by the Dean ACR, is to nurture and strengthen the Institute’s bonds with its alumni community and philanthropic entities - individuals, non-profits, and corporations. It encourages the involvement and participation of these entities in the Institute’s strategic initiatives. These include setting up world class research and education infrastructure in emerging areas of science and technology, improving faculty value proposition, strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem, and contributing to society. ACR is facilitated in its mission by the Development & Relations Foundation, a Sec. 8 non-profit company set up by IIT Bombay for this purpose.

Translational Research Centre

The Translational Research Centre (TRC) is a new initiative that aims to strongly support the innovation ecosystem at IIT Bombay, by providing infrastructural support and enabling the maturation of early-stage breakthrough innovations resulting from academic research, towards creating societal and industrial impact.

Society For Innovation And Entrepreneurship

The Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), is an umbrella organization at IIT Bombay for fostering entrepreneurship and nurturing tech start-ups. It administers a business incubator which provides ‘start to scale’ support for technology based entrepreneurship and facilitates the conversion of research activity into entrepreneurial ventures. Set up in 2004, it is one of the earliest incubators in Indian academia with a potential to create startups focussing on economic growth, strategic value and social relevance. It gives prototyping grants, provides incubation support to tech startups and also runs accelerator programs in corporate partnership.
