Research Park Tech Talk Series

Research Park kicks-off the TechTalk series.The first RP TechTalk was held on November 8, 2023.

The title of the talk was “Sustainability in Open Compute and Meta’s Goals and Initiatives”. The speaker, Mr. Dharmesh Jani (DJ), holds degrees from IIT Bombay (BTech EE), UCLA (MSEE), and UC-Berkeley, Haas School of Business (MBA). DJ has been a key figure in the Open Compute Project (OCP) since 2012. OCP was founded in 2011 with the mission to design and enable the delivery of the most efficient server, storage, and data center hardware designs for scalable computing. The primary goal of OCP has always been sustainability, dating back to its early initiatives aimed at developing more energy-efficient server and data center designs to reduce power consumption.

The theme of the talk was to provide an overview of OCP’s history in driving sustainability, discuss key industry goals, and highlight OCP’s initiatives in this space. Additionally, the talk covered Meta’s strategy and leadership in reaching net zero emissions by 2030. The ultimate aim of this talk was to inspire collaboration and accelerate innovation in sustainable IT infrastructure.
